Dave Letterman had the gall to say that Bush would have won the election based on new results from 8 independent news agencies who recounted the votes in Florida...

That is NOT what was reported by these news agencies.

In fact, Gore would have won in numerous scenarios...

I used to trust Dave Letterman to make fun of the truth, but not to lie outright about the truth.

These guys don't get it....Gore tried to appease everyone because he knew if he asked for a full recount he would have been ridiculed by the media and attacked by all Republicans...

In fact, Gore WOULD HAVE WON the state of Florida if all the votes would have been recounted, he would have won by as little as 49 votes to as many as a few hundred.

Sheesh!

Well, why let the truth get in the way of a good joke.

I find what you say intriguing...it's almost as if Leno's people were watching Letterman's show from the night before because they started out their joke with the same misinformation about the Florida Election...

...In fact, it appears Gore would have WON if all the uncounted votes had been counted. The only reason Gore did not ask for a full recount of the "tainted" votes was because the immense and intense pressure put on him by all sides to not muck up the works.

This idea of a time deadline that would not allow for an actual recount could somehow be more important than knowing who actually won the election was about the biggest sham I have ever seen.

Amazing.

They mighta been watching. Who knows, I only see what's on the screen, not behind-the-scenes research (or lack thereof).

When those comments were made, whatever PANTS corporation it is (who produce a few other talk-shows; Conan O'Brien and/or Craig Kilborne) might not have researched the question enough, or the programs were recorded before the most recent news was reported.
